ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Renewables Technician to support daily operations at our 100 MW EcoGrove Wind Farm and 100 MW High Point PV Facility in northwestern Illinois. This role involves maintaining wind and solar systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations across both technologies.

Job Description

Key responsibilities: 

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines, solar arrays, battery storage systems, and substation equipment. 

  • Conduct electrical switching operations on equipment with voltages up to 345kV. 

  • Inspect, test, and monitor site equipment to identify and resolve abnormal conditions. 

  • Support Root Cause Analyses for equipment failure investigations. 

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, conduct safety analyses, and participate in emergency response training. 

  • Maintain documentation for preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. 

  • Keep tools, safety equipment, and site areas in clean and functional condition. 

  • Crosstrain with other technicians and support both technologies as needed. 

  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Required Skills and Competencies

About you: 

You’re a multi-skilled technician with a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems for both wind and solar technologies. You value safety, take pride in your technical abilities, and are adaptable to working in dynamic environments across both renewable platforms. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college or technical degree preferred)

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience 

  • Ability to climb up to 300 feet and lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor conditions, including extreme weather

  • Capable of working independently and on rotating shifts, including nights and overtime

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to respond to emergencies within 45 minutes

  • Eligible to obtain a U.S. Passport

  • Qualified to work on medium and high voltage equipment

  • Base Pay: $28.00–$38.00 hourly (based on experience, education, and skills)
